First off: Nice Rig
Secondly: Shadow you are a dick <3
Thirdly: What do you get in 3dmark05??
Harddrives:
For what its worth I dont really care about redundency. I have a 74gb raptor and would have 4 of em if striping them was that much of a performance boost in real world situations. Too much power consumption/heat IMO and the same seek time. I dont really need to transfer files super fast between drives either. I have 3 160 - 200gb IDE drives (gettin rid of them for sata) and transfering data from my raptor to the IDE bottlenecks the shit out of my IDE drives as well.
If i was striping them I wouldnt really care for a Raid 0+1 setup and would rather stripe them all. My important data is on my IDE "Data" drives which are backed up.
In the event of an "OS Drive" failure, I can successfully reinstall XP in 17 minutes and get my PC back to exactly how it is now in about 2 hours.
I think the fact that I have everything backed up good enough (current drivers for everything, browser settings etc) to get me back to square one in the event of a failure > Stripe/Mirror Array
EDIT: If you backup important data all the time I'd definetly build a cheap file server. Doesnt even have to be powerfull or anything and can be done very cheaply. I still honestly think that your array is more prone to problems than one single drive. Unless you goto SCSI shit with a dedicated RAID Controller.
Thats just my opinion. very nice rig nonetheless.
