wassup guys,

alright so heres what happened....i bought an xbox 360 elite in november...if u dont already know, it came with a months subscription to xbox live for free...well that expired around the middle of december...well for christmas i recieved a years subscription to live...anyways heres where things started to go wrong...being an xbox novice i just randomly started doing things to activate my card...one of those things included trying to recover my gamertag...i dont know why, but ever since i tried doing that, it wouldnt even log me into my offline account...i now realize that trying to recover my gamertag had nothing to do with setting myself up with live...another novice mistake...sooo, im taking a guess here, but i believe that once i can somehow get my offline acount back that ill be able to set up my live...any suggestions on how to get my offline account back? i start up a game, and usually it says "Guerilla TA (gamertag) has signed in"...now that does not happen and when i try to sign in, it will not let me ...none of this happend until i tried to recover my gamertag, which did not need to be recovered....im completely lost and frustrated and would love any help...thanks

Recovering your gamertag is only for allowing you to login on a DIFFERENT xbox.

As for the rest of what you're talking about, I have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

The easiest way, if you haven't "used" your gift card, is to logon to xbox.com with the live username and password that you used for the account that you want setup. From there, find where it says upgrade subscription.

Everything you can do on the xbox in terms of your account can be done from xbox.com, and I'd suggest doing that from now on to save yourself some hassle. If you've accidentally put the gift card on the wrong account (I think that's what you're talking about), then call up xbox support and cry, hopefully they'll be compassionate.
