I went to turn on my pc on Monday and nothing happened. After opening the case and pressing the power button i saw that the fans started spinning and the lights on the mother bored turned on for a second( with the exception of the one light that is always on). I tried pressing the power button again but this time nothing happened. I messed around with the power cable but still nothing. However i saw that if i unplugged the power cable and then tried to turn on my pc the fans would spin and the lights would turn on but still only for a second or two.

Any one know what the problem could be?

Do the obvious by making sure all connections are tight. Make sure the motherboard isn't being shorted out by the case anywhere or by other metal pieces lying around inside the case. If still nothing, you're more than likely f*cked and will probably need a new motherboard.

Sounds like the PSU is either loose/dead.

Definitely would be a power supply, I have also seen motherboards exhibit this sort of behavior when dead. In most circumstances the power supply is the cause of the issues.

For god's sake, when buying a new power supply, dont get the cheapest piece of crap you can find. Go something decent, yet not super expensive. Hell, link the power supply you might buy in here and we can give you feedback on whether it's okay or not.
