If i were to do a fresh windows XP install would it be possible to backup all the css mapsi have downloaded so that i do not have to download them again. Also without backing up the entire folder.

go into your cstrike folder and backup the folder called "maps" thast the only way

ya I usually just copy over my whole steanmapps/steamname/ folder then after I reinstall windows I install steam, select the games I have and start the downloads. Then right after all of them start, exit steam, delete the clientregistry.blob, then bring the folders for each game over. Reopen steam, and voila your sh*t is "ret to go"
