aside from the fact that many ignorant rappers and blacks are the main face of rap today..rap/hip-hop still is the best music out there. the best rappers are "dead" and all that bullsh*t like soulja boy and lil wayne have polluted the minds of the hip-hop community. soulja boy is not a real rapper, he is a dancer lol. all that ignorant sh*t he says speaks nothing. Best rappers ever in my opinion are lupe fiasco, mos def, talib kweli, wu-tang, nas, mf doom, kanye west...all those guys that have intelligent lyrics that flow. recently i bought the wu-tang 8diagrams album, and i was a little disappointed in some of their songs. i only enjoyed like 3 tracks off it. indeed, there needs to be more rappers that can bring hip-hip back to how it used to be. too few are active.

I agree with some of the thing you said here, like Lil wayne is garbage, but the best music out? I don't think so, maybe the most popular. I think good music is defined by talent, I like a lot of different kinds of music, so to say that one genre is better than the other is like comparing apples to oranges. nah i mean nigga

Hip hop has been pure garbage for over ten years. It's all sold out to suburbia... Nothing good can come out of the hip hop / rap scene today; abandon all hope, ye who enter here. One, or even a few intelligent rappers is not enough to redeem an entire genre of bullshit.

Metal is one of the few genres left that displays real musicianship, seeing that it's been relatively untainted by the mainstream. So 'dat where it at dawg... or something.

yeh rappers before 1995 may have been better but they "died". lupe does make good songs, i think "kick push," "paris,tokyo", and "hip hop saved my life" are the greatest songs he's made. lupe as a modern rapper along with a few others are the best. rap is the best in my opinion though; as one growing up in nyc. penguin pretty much named them all.

penguin you forgot about anything that Del the funky homosapien has touched, heiroglyphics, the roots, old atmsophere, Dj shadow has some awesome beats i really hate mainstream rap these days and as shadow said most of is is god damn jungle music but there is some good stuff out there im pretty selective with what i listen to
