ok well as some of you know, I once had a pretty decent gaming rig, until I had to sell it to make ends meet when I was laid off from work.
Anyway shortly after I started working again I purchases a cheap HP system from a friend who had one laying around, and its pretty decent, except for the cpu/mobo.

I plan on purchasing a new cpu/mobo and was wondering what steps I should take for this system, I am reusing all my parts(I have a nice PSW and a GPU I purchased fairly recently).

I built a system from scratch before with luck, but I never built a system from previous parts( like the HD and dvd-rom and whatnot).
any insight is appreciated and sorry if my post is slightly incoherent, its 98 degrees in my apartment with no AC yet, and ive been drinking after a long day at work.
Thanks.

Main thing is to checkout the ram and GPU to make sure they are compatible w/the mobo you choose. dvd drive shouldn't be a problem as the majority of them are plugnplay and don't even require drivers; if you did just dl them. If you're re-using the case make sure the mobo matches the case size (atx or micro). And you might need a new psu, depending on what you do with your choices for mobo and cpu. All the major companies choose their psu's strictly for the makeup of the PC; which you're changing and probably making it more power hungry. Look into some of that sh*t.

_my words.

hope i helped you gates.

big help Wulf thanks man, the PSU is allset its something I purchased a few months ago when I upgraded the GPU.
My other question is what software should I use to totally wipe the HD for a fresh install of an OS, I cant seem to find anything I would trust to get the job done.
