Ok, i need a new computer. Right now im using my parents piece of sh*t dell from 02 :whatever: it HAS to go. i cant take playing on this thing anymore. truthfully i dont even know how its supporting cs. nothing short of a miracle.

I could either get this Area-51 7500

or

I could have one of my friends build a comp for me

If i got the alienware then i would most likely have to do payments, and it would take about 2.5 years to pay off. But if i build one i would have to put all my money i have towards that and then id be broke

There is all kinds of DIY info on the web for free... or you can buy a PC based magazine like Maximum Pc or Computer Shopper for tips on how to build your own system. It is a hell of a lot cheaper than ordering one from Dell, but you will not have a warranty if something went wrong so you would have to fix it yourself. It's really easy to build a great computer for $1,000-$1,500. Check out amazon.com or newegg.com for parts.Good Luck.

if you buy parts from tigerdirect.com alot of the times it has a video that shows you how to attach the part that you buy pretty handy seeing somebody actually do it

f*ck man. I have a 90's PC case, with newer sh*t inside. I have never bought a pre-made computer. They put an extra $200+ on the final price. Buy your parts separately, or wait for sales (newegg.com ftw).

If you can't build one (which would mean you couldn't grasp the concept of leggos as a child either) this site has the best options for components that i've seen lately.

...as if it hasnt been said enough already, f*ck alienware. And honestly, it'll take 2.5 years to pay off the comp? Most of the parts will be out of date and sluggin along by then.

Get your 'friend' to build you one, and watch him do everything so you'll no more or less how to update, improve, and go about it yourself down the road. And if you need any suggestions on where to get parts, i'd go with newegg.com or tigerdirect.com.

Alienware is the Apple of PC vendors.

For example, they charge an extra $100 for a sound card, and the same sound card is only $85 on NewEgg.

I'd also like to know how these $105 speakers become $126

If you do go with it, enjoy your envidya graphics card.

If you go the prebuilt PC route, falcon northwest or voodoopc would get my money if i ever went that route. All the experiences i had with them were very pleasant. Whenever there was a problem the human on the other end felt like he was actually trying to do his job and make things right.

The computer themselves are absolutely stunning, cables are wonderfully managed, work of someone who cares about his job. Obviously pricetag is a bit high but you get alot of small touches that make the whole experience worthwhile.

Yeah, I can vouch for Northwest. A few of my friends bought a gaming tower, and they didn't have any complaints.

Hefty price tag, like Scroll said.
