alright, I feel like a tard needing to post here, but Microsoft wont help me.
So after building this new computer...I decided to be cheap and buy an OEM copy of xp pro.
I had kaspersky, spybot, and CCleaner (all I've ever needed).
So I get home after work, and my gf says she downloaded "slingo" and played it for a few hours before downloading a Texas hold em game, and then she noticed a red bar in the firefox browser saying the computer is infected, she says she did'nt click on it, after running spybot and CCleaner and constant scans with kaspersky to get the infected sh*t out, spybot asks to restart the computer to complete the scan to remove the bad files that are still in use in the memory, so I do.
Now windows xp is asking me to reactivate my copy of windows because "too many hardware/software changes have occured" or somehting along those lines, and when I re-enter my product key, it says I cannot use it again.
I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get some help from microsoft, but after telling them what happend they tell me to contact my system builder for support....so I tell them im the system builder, then I get put on hold, and they hang up on me...probably from laughing at my dumb ass.
I have 3 days to reactivate, and im trying NOT to do a reformat, because im actually pretty paranoid that the windows wont even work after that.
So can any of the BoSS computer geniuses help? I would appreciate it.

Sounds like someone is doing things the wrong way, I have had the same windows xp key for about 19 different builds of my home computer. Not once have I had to get a new key.

Best way, reformat, because you f*cked up the reactivation process you cant do it the right way now.

When it asks to reactivate, do so, dont use the online activation, use the toll free number. It will do the whole input the 9000 digit long number, do so. It will probably say it cannot verify and you get transferred to a poor english speaking asshole in nigeria or india.

He will ask the same questions,

"Is this copy installed on any other computer?" No

"What is the reason to reactivate windows?" Don't bullsh*t around with a story, just say a bad driver caused a BSOD on restart and you couldnt recover it.

They may ask if any pieces of hardware was changed, just say no. It's no business of microsoft if you changed hardware.

I have done this process on countless hundreds of machines with OEM copies of windows XP, and not ONE has had me change the key for reactivation, just that 90000 digit number.

If you follow the above it will reactivate just fine, if it doesnt, you are a tard and are incapable of owning a computer. Go die in a fire plz thx bai

This is correct, I have done this exact thing before. Just do what Scroll said...otherwise they'll suspect you of pirating. At least they did for me. And I was only like 10 years old. Fucking Hindus.

Had this happen, just reformat, though, for me at least, I was able to just active online again without an issue.
