Definitely interesting........

Anandtech

Just a quick few, if you want to add more, go right ahead. But the overall theme is that at 50$ less than AMD's top end 965 it beats it across the board.

in-game performances they're pretty much the same, the only reason in these tests that the i5 pulls ahead of even an i7 920 is due to the automatic overclocking under load, but at least the h-ocp review showed the 2.6 GHz benches, and those are about the same as the 955 except in memory tests where it pulls ahead.

Unfortunately since its still a new platform and socket, with motherboards and whatnot its still more expensive than a 955 with a decent 790fx chipset motherboard.

I'm sure once the holidays come around the prices will even out, forcing both AMD and Intel to drop their prices a bit, because competition is always a good thing.

Ya I got one last week...seems like my job gets me a HUGE discount at a local pc store that sold me it way early :)

the i7 860 that I have is pretty good, great clocking and way lower heat output than the i7 920. I hit 4.2Ghz within a few min of tweaking on a stock heatsink never going above 60 degrees.

Now I'm deciding which one to sell my 860 or 920 :)

I would stick with the 860 myself, but that's just me.
