While at work for a scant 3 hours to help set an ad I thought of this...

What is a nightmare/dream like for a person that was born blind? Do they "see" things in their nightmare/dreams, or is it just sounds and emotions?

deep thought is deep. Well if the brain never had a memory of sight in the first place then maybe it's just sounds and emotions.

After some quick research:

If a person is born with sight, and lives long enough to have memories of sight before losing it, they will dream with some limited vision which has been altered by their new interpretation of how things look. Ex: A boy loses their sense of sight at age 10, when their mother is 40 years old. For the rest of the son's life, they will percieve their mother in dreams as age 40, because that is the last memory they have of how she looked. If a person in this same scenario meets a new person after they have lost their sight, their mind will create an image of how they think that the person looks and this will be expressed in dreams.

I think that because the brain is wired for vision or visual thought, that even without ever seeing anything, someone who is blind might dream in some sort of visual way. Even if the visual side of the dream was just abstract shapes. I wouldn't be surprised either way, both having dreams with really limited visuals or no vision at all seem plausible.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. -Aristotle

Another thought for you.
If its zero degrees out today and its going to be twice as cold tomorrow, what temperature will it be?

That would depend, mathmatically, it's still 0. If today was 16 degrees colder then yesterday, then it would be -16 tomorrow. Because as it stand the number 0 has no special effect, as even if it was 15 degrees outside it would be difficult to say what twice as cold would be, as 2 x 15 would be 30 and 30 is warmer, not colder then 15. So either way, just saying twice as colder as today doesn't work, unless you use the temp differences between each day.

you can tell that's been one of his deep thoughts before.

Not really...actually, im a bit surprised that inertia bothered asking a question thats...well...not that deep.

For ex, i could ask: If a tree falls down in the woods and no ones around to hear it, does it make any sound?

...yes...of course it makes a f*ckin sound...why would you have any reason to believe otherwise? ...while thinking about whether or not a blind person can see in his dreams can actually boggle the f*ckin mind.
