Should be this by Thursday:
Athlon 64 3400+ Newcastle (s754)
DFI Lanparty UT3
2x512MB Kingmax Hardcore PC4000
Either: PNY 6600 GT or BFG 6800 GT
Thermaltake Silentboost K8
Western Digital Caviar SE 80GB
Decided to go from s939 3200+ to s754 3400+ (MASSIVE problems w/s939) and am shipping my processor out on Tuesday
NOOOOO DON'T GO S754!!! >_<
1. No dual channel support
2. No PCI Express support
3. No decent mother boards
4. No ability to upgrade later on using the same harware
5. Only supports 2x DDR400 ram if you put 3 in it drops down to DDR333
(Believe me on this one S754 Athlon 64's are NOT worth the buy.)
My specs (Only reason why I'm using a S754 is because I bought it a week after it came out on market.):
Athlon 64 3000+ S754
1Gig DDR400 (2x 512)
WD 120Gb
MSI GeForce FX5700LE (Soon to be GeForce 6600GT.)
Soundblaster Live Gamer.
MSI K8N Neo Platinum (The most expensive motherboard there was and it's a piece of f*cking sh*t!)
Operating System: Fedora Core 3 X86_64 (DOWN WITH WINDOWS UP WITH *NIX!!!)

1. Increased processor clock speed makes up for lack of dual channel
2. PCIe is BARELY faster than AGP 8x due to hardware limitations ATM
3. DFI Lanparty UT3 is better than pretty much EVERY s939 mobo out there
4. By the time I'll be ready to upgrade again new technology will be out
5. Don't plan on using more than 2 DIMM's of RAM
Once again, pretty much my ONLY regret when going back to s754 is the loss of overclockability, but we'll see see what I can get out of the Lanparty (aka "the overclockers dream board").

For 2. You have the ability to use SLI and gain double the performance of any s754 mobo out there.\
3. post me a link to that mobo

AMD will not support DDR2 until DDR2667 comes out, that is why amd apparently will go to it, but that is a little bit of a long ways to go, I would leap at 939 and stick with it.

2. SLI does NOT give DOUBLE performace. It gives a decent boost, nowhere close to double.
3. A few links for you:

It's a fantastic board with very few bugs. Guy I'm getting it from just mailed it out, so hopefully I'll have it in the next few days.
And just you wait Darkshadow. You probably were the one to mention VIA's new "SLI" ripoff that'll allow you to run 2 ATI cards. ATI is making a chipset for boards too which will allow a similar feature sometime soon (RX480 chipset) Check it out: http://www.anandtech...doc.aspx?i=2269

Ive learned one great thing with amd, dont be a dick, buy an asus.
lol
If I had my choice I'd go with a DFI s939/940 board (no option to do so right now though) with a VIA. Might be a lil while till they jump to s939 though.
