whats this trial do? what happens when its up, or can you buy it when its over and not have to install anything?

whats some pros and cons? any good articles, i keep hearing features, but is it really worth the 100-200 dollar upgrade for gaming?

Derek, it's a beta. It's not the final release, so don't get excited about it.

Download it yourself and use it.

yeah i know its not, might not be worth the install and uninstall if it doesnt make a difference. all i hear about is the media things, a different interface and thats it. besides 64 bit which my processor wont do, i dont think

Ok im seriously not downloading it... its a BETA FROM MICROSOFT!!! which means that it might be unstable... Microsoft releasing a product saying that it might be unstable (especially if that product is windows)... well if you decide to install it.. then back up like your whole system to another computer or some disks and/or pray that your computer doesn't catch on fire and melt every part that you have...

There's 2 version's of vista 32 or 64 bit whatever you want??And if you have a second hard drive to mess with i would say to try it..You might learn something or just waste a little time well allot but whatever.Only way you'll know is if you try it!

to be honest I don't want an OS that requires hardware more than an average game on the market. thats ridiculus.

#1 If you tried it a few months ago, try it again. A LOT has changed (Yay for +1 to stability and compatibility)
#2 their requirements are complete bs. I run it on a laptop with 512megs of ram and intel integrated graphics (aka stealing even more memory) and it runs faster than XP.
#3 It has really poor driver support, but more recent XP drivers seem to be accepted (like my LAN driver) (but not my 2nd video card driver.. poor NumberNine Revolution IV..)
#4 It'll dual boot, so if you're reasonably careful, give it a shot.
#5 umm. it's shiny. You guys do like shiny things, right?

Well i thought it would totally suck... but its not really that bad... its compatable with all of the xp drivers, except it was kind of annoying finding all of thedisks for my stuff again and installing drivers for everything again... all of the windows and stuff fades in and out which is cool... only 2 things bothered me:
1) whenever you change some options or try to access any program, it gives you a confirmation if you want to do it... which is annoying, i mean i guess its good for regular shmo's that don't know how to use a computer but it gets annoying when you're trying to set everything up and it keeps telling you that you just changed something like every second...
2) I think it also doesn't work right now on a linux network, because i was setting up my laser printer which is on my network through my dads computer which is a server which is always running and on linux, and so it has SAMBA which allows it to network with Windows, but i installed the printer and vista saw it and it was all dandy but just wouldn't print, maybe it was just an incompatable driver or maybe samba doesn't work with vista yet, but that'll be fixed soon enough so it's all good

So i don't know, i was expecting it to totally trash my system, but hey... its not that bad...

Edit: oh and i fogot, and i also get like +1-2 fps in CS:S... YAY!!!

Microsoft released about [30 or so] beta's of SP2, Lemme tell you somethin, every single build was great until it hit final, when microsoft f*cks everything up again, thats my knowledge of how the beta's are.

Well i think microsoft is doing allright each time its a little beta!!SO maybe most of the bugs will be fixed when they release it??This version is less buggy than last one and i can play source 124 on stress test..And there's some things i need to install everytime it loads but still works.I use it just for my curiosity but you know they say about the cat!!!Hopefully it dont kill me or bite me in the ass....
