For the wire management, you need to think about the airflow. The Lian Li cases have incredible air flow. The cables in the drive bays are on the back of the drives, the heat output on the drives is underneath each drive (this part is kept clean and clear). I didn't build the insides for looks, it was built for performance. Less heat = better, longer lasting computer.

Know of any other high quality cases that have the better airflow for 10+ drives?

Btw, here's a newer image that shows my 10th drive, someone messaged me earlier saying he was blind and that I was lying since he could only count 3 drives, so see this: http://www.mylianli....r-the-blind.jpg

incredible airflow my ass, they only got 80mm fan slots, no 120'z = U FAIL.

btw, get some Raptor 150gb's, Jesus christ, You spent 600 on four 74 gb's where as 2x 150gb are cheaper [190 after rebates], god damn dude, if thats wire management, Im the pope.

- 80mm? Go look at the main fan that is blowing the air from the hard drives. That's not an 80mm lol...

btw, get some Raptor 150gb's, Jesus christ

- I got those raptors when they were on sale, I saved abuot $75 off each drive. It would be stupid to get 2 150 raptors, because I need raid 0+1, so I would need 4 150 raptors.

Here's a nice little flash movie showing how the airflow works in this case: http://www.lian-li.c...C-V2100plus.htm

Find me a case with 10 drive support, that has the same level of airflow as this one. Any takers?

Btw, wire management doesn't mean that the case inside has to look pretty. Most gamers do not understand that. I don't care how pretty the insides look, I care about the airflow.

you care about airflow yet neglect the dual 80mm slots? gg, kill yourself.

oh and any gamer wouldn't buy a Lian Li because their overpriced pieces of shit, I had a PC60, it sucked, I'm not buying another.

You dont need 10 hard drives. RAID is t3h suck. Get a pair of raptor 150s and some 750gb seagates and you are good to go. Less power, cables, money etc

- Says the guy who doesn't know a single thing about what I do or what is on them?

RAID is t3h suck

- Yeah, screw redundancy! Only idiots want to make sure they don't lose data.

Get a pair of raptor 150s and some 750gb seagates and you are good to go. Less power, cables, money etc

- Weren't out when I bought everything... Also, those cost a lot more $/GB, so more money, less power/cables.

- The case didn't come with fans for those slots. Funny you call me stupid, yet say something yourself that isn't even true? Also, the air blows out of the two slots that can hold 2 80mm fans. The airflow does work.

Why am I getting so many comments from people who seem to know very little about this?

oh and any gamer wouldn't buy a Lian Li because their overpriced pieces of sh*t,

- It is a very high quality case, very quiet too. I didn't buy it for gaming, hence my comments about why the wires are in the places I said. Please read my posts before making stupid comments.

wtf are you talking about you, the Cost per GB is still under $.45 per gb, because a 750gb costs 339.99 for a SATA, so good fucking game with that bs excuse.

No. So, what exactly do you do that isn't gaming and requires 2600GB+ of storage and a 7900 card?

- 750gb, $330 vs 960GB for 3 x 320s @ $95/ea http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822148140

Damn, maybe I should spend more money for less drives? That would be so smart..

Like I said previously, the 750 wasn't around, but even if it was, it was still more $$ per GB.

Yeah I'm quite curious what 2600gb of storage is good for aside from porn and warez.

- THx for asking before jumping to conclusions like an idiot, and making comments before you even knew wtf I do... I run a technology company, and store all of our client data on this machine. Backups upon backups of data. Raid, due to the fact that if I lose lots of money every hour my system goes down.

2GB ram is due to the development work I do. The card is for gaming, but I needed something to connect to my TV and output high quality content. I was running a 6600GT, which was perfect for what I needed work-wise, the card was a bonus from the company. I would still be playing on the 6600gt card if it wasnt for the bonus.

One of my drives holds all of my music, the rest is for work and whatnot.

why not just move all of the HD's for storage outside of your case and put them in a rack with a FW 800 connection? would be just as good, and save you a bunch of room / overhead.

because the way your setup is now, its somewhat gimp at best due to the fact that those cables are cockblocking your airflow like a wh0re.

- What airflow is it blocking? Think about how hard drives release/absorb heat/cool air... It is ALL from the bottom. That's why all of the cables are on the back of the drives, to have maximum airflow where it is needed.

Please, if I am incorrect about anyhting, speak up. So far I have proved how airflow works, why I need the space, and why it is cheaper to buy more drives with lower space, than it is to buy 1 big one.

- It saves a lot of space to have it in 1 computer as opposed to 1 computer and 1 file server. I already priced things out. It is also much quicker doing it this way.

First off: Nice Rig
Secondly: Shadow you are a dick <3
Thirdly: What do you get in 3dmark05??

Harddrives:

For what its worth I dont really care about redundency. I have a 74gb raptor and would have 4 of em if striping them was that much of a performance boost in real world situations. Too much power consumption/heat IMO and the same seek time. I dont really need to transfer files super fast between drives either. I have 3 160 - 200gb IDE drives (gettin rid of them for sata) and transfering data from my raptor to the IDE bottlenecks the shit out of my IDE drives as well.

If i was striping them I wouldnt really care for a Raid 0+1 setup and would rather stripe them all. My important data is on my IDE "Data" drives which are backed up.

In the event of an "OS Drive" failure, I can successfully reinstall XP in 17 minutes and get my PC back to exactly how it is now in about 2 hours.

I think the fact that I have everything backed up good enough (current drivers for everything, browser settings etc) to get me back to square one in the event of a failure > Stripe/Mirror Array

EDIT: If you backup important data all the time I'd definetly build a cheap file server. Doesnt even have to be powerfull or anything and can be done very cheaply. I still honestly think that your array is more prone to problems than one single drive. Unless you goto SCSI shit with a dedicated RAID Controller.

Thats just my opinion. very nice rig nonetheless.
