that ATI thing has a trade in program that takes off like 70 bucks off the price.... so i guess it'll be like 130 - 180... but is that card a good card to play CSS on?

I would go with this right now: http://www.zipzoomfl...ductCode=322821

The 7900GS card has very good reviews for half-life 2 games.

eVga is an awesome company to deal with. All my video cards are either evga, or bfg. Tech support from them is great.

Get the card I'm getting, the x1800GTO. It has 256-bit memory and 12 pipelines, it's awesome. Pair that with your 3800 and 1GB ram and you'll be able to run CSS at max settings with something to the effect of 60-80fps constant.

Well the x1800GTO is like the 7600, same amount of pixel pipelines, similar clock speeds, etc...

But if you have the money by all means go for the 7900.

You can find a 7900gs for around $180 or less. The 7900gt you can find for around $225.

Well here you go, this is my suggestion.

Specs for the cards are meaningful, but don't rely on them to tell you how it performs- you want to look at the benchmarks.

The 7900 GS significantly outperforms the x1800GTO and costs less. The SAPPHIRE version of the x1800 is $35 less than the 7900 GS card, however, the x1800 one is a SAPPHIRE.

In the test for Half Life 2: Episode One - No AA (maybe the closest to CSS, dunno?), at 1280x1024, the 7900 GS card had about 35 more FPS than the x1800 GTO card.

so now my choices are :
nVIDIA 7900 GS
nVIDIA 7900 GT
ATI x1800GTO

and does it really matter who made it like BFG tech, XFX, BFG, EVGA etc?
and i wanna know how much of these run in CND... u guys seem to be good at finding stuff at cheap prices

oh and my dad has a computer thats Intel Dual Core 2.8Ghz/1 gig ram/ nVIdia GeForce 6150LE..... would that run CSS fine?
or would that system need to upgrade graphic/RAm ??

does upgrading the processor improve the gaming a lot or does upgrading graphic cards improve gaming more?

It does matter who makes it, but all the ones you listed are fine. BFG usually has a lifetime warranty and are generally more stable/better made than the rest. +1 vote for the 7900's. OC like crazy and run cooler than the recent ATIs (just look at the HSF size difference.. :( )
*pokes his 1900xtx with a stick some more*

not really, they are just a generation behind. I have a 6600gt with gddr3 and frequencies of 600/1100......cheap and still gives me 60+ fps in css. But yea dont go for geforce6 generation cards....or w/e you call them, 6 series...blah.....digress

i think i'll go with nVIDIA 7900 GS or GT....
but i can't decide from GS or GT..... GT seems to be just a little more expensive but ii still don't know how much better GT is than GS
soo i don't know if i should spend the extra 30 40 bucks for GT...
