I would like to lock a folder or 2. What program you would you guys suggest? I just want to right click it, and put "lock or encrypt" and have it require a password in order to open the folder.

I just want something simple...no hidden drives or file shredding or sh*t like that. Everything i download on the interweb is all complicated and sh*t (im not hiding information pertaining to national security, just a few files and programs)

So, know of anything good? thanks niggas

ps- im using windows xp home...which for some gay ass reason doesn't have the windows encryptor thing (which is pretty much what im looking for in this program)

Upgrade to XP pro. Set up multiple users on the PC. Disable simple file sharing. Set just your username to have access to the folder. Done deal.

Or just zip the folder and put a password on it

Just to add, zipping the folder and password protecting it will just prevent someone from opening the doc or pic or whatever inside. If you are trying to hide your furry collection, they can still see the names and types of the files etc. Also with the win xp pro encryption AFAIK other users on the PC will not be able to see the data at all. Your username will see it, but if, for instance, your parents have their username they wont be able to see it. It wont put a password on the file(but you can obviously set a password for your username). Look for a third party tool.

sense im sure you are not going to get xp pro, and your not hiding national secrets, why dont you just set the folder as hidden and place it in a unusual directory. if no one is looking for it hard you will be all set.

Get True Crypt It uses on the fly encryption methods. It encrypts using AES, Twofish, or Serpent. Those were all methods the CIA used to use untill a few years ago. You can also encrypt a file or folder using all 3. Take a Thumbdrive or tell it to use a set amount of space off your hard drive (ie 100MB) and it will encrypt that. Then you'll need to mount it using True Crypt and youll be able to save stuff to it as if it were a drive on your computer. If someone were to steal your truecrypt'ed thumbdrive and put it in thier computer windows will ask to reformat it and wont be able to cypher what is on it. Hope that helps.

Delete the Icon on your desktop and from your programs list.

That should keep the idiots out. Most people aren't smart enough to browse to C:\Program Files\limewire\shared\vidoes\interracialmanonmanaction
