I think the girl was fine. Physics tells us that the sheer weight of the ball compared to the little skull would have impacted the head, then PUSHED it out of the way. Not a horrible hit. Bad, YES, but not as bad as if her head were on the ground, then the ball dropped on it. It would be similar to a larger person lightly smacking you with a heavy hand. Just more force than impact.
