I was wandering around future shop yesterday, and saw they had an open box, BFG 8800gt OC. They had it knocked down from 329 to $199. For that card, I couldn't pass it up. Not that my x1950 pro is bad or anything, but for $199, the 8800 gt oc was the deal of the year.

I compared 2 or three source games (All I have installed at the moment), and the 8800 is about twice as fast. Not bad considering my x1950 pro was around $280 a year ago.

BFG is a fairly decent card maker. Thats who made my card also. Theres nothing like a lifetime warranty.

yeah, the 8800gt and the ATi 3850 are nice cards. Though it all depends on what you want more, the 8800GT performs better then the 3850 in dx10 games, while the 3850 performs better then the 8800gt in dx9.

It's the 512mb one, also it's the OC one, with higher mem & gpu clocks.

It was regularly $330, but they had it reduced to $199 for open box.

EDIT: 3dmark 2006 results:

My system has:

Athlon 6000+
8800gt oc
2gb ram
80gb raptor hd
abit a9n SLI

I have no idea about 3dmark or any other benchmarks, is this good?

I ordered a 512mb XFX 8800GT from Dell a month ago for $187. Fuckers kept pushing back the ship date because a zillion people ordered them, but i should be getting it in a few days.

It will replace my over clocked 1800XT. For around $200 these cards have some of the most "Bang for your Buck" of any card ever made. If you can find them anyways.

Ill post up some benchmarks when I get it. (runnin a FX55 @ 2.9 ghz)

Thats a sweet deal.. so when you two fockers going intel???You both are allready switching from ati-nividia so now its a must amd-intel.Hostestly though 10,000 is sweet for a amd one card setup but with a intel [email protected] 17'000 with the same one card!!!

Intel has got some slick sh*t out there. But it's hard to find a good intel mobo for less than $350, where good am2 boards can be found for $200. But those new core 2's sure overclock like a b*tch....

EDIT: not to mention a f*cking quad core is gonna cost a fortune.

I will be going Intel shortly. Not sure when though. Hopefully this new 8800gt will buy me some time.

Im a bit dissapointed that good mobos for intel rigs are really expensive, on the other hand the memory is really cheap. If mobos were a bit less and I could use the same memory I have currently i would have already switched.

I'm a ATI/AMD fanboy at heart, but benchmarks dont lie. Right now Intel/Nvidia have the upper hand.

IMO AMD really hasn't come out with anything that has CONSIDERABLE performance increase in over a year.

My Old FX55 @ 2.9ghz is faster (graphics-wise) than MOST of the newest AMD Cpus.....

Intel does have those new X38 boards but god they are expensive. I really like my EVGA 680i motherboard, came with everything... I really like having the little digital counter thing for codes if the board starts to crap out on ya.
