I'd rather get the 640mb 320bit 8800gts instead. price isn't that much more.

G92 is arguably THE best card out now.

If you compare a ton of different benchmarks and different scenarios, the 8800GTX beats it by a half of one percent, but the G92 GTS uses a LOT less power.

3870 doesn't beat it out in any benchmarks and gets its ass kicked in some scenarios..........

And yeah the 640 MB version is a LOT slower than the 512 mb G92 GTS.......

Best bang for your buck = 8800gt g92.

Meats or beats the 8800 gts, and I'm sorry to say, but the 3870's are sh*tty cards for the price. I like ATI, but there is no denying that Nvidia has them b*tchslapped at the moment.

wow I didn't mean to spark a debate on which is the best card. I merely was just posting a good deal on a card that is normally ~300 .

However since the boards don't normally have much worth reading/discussing, I'll join in with my two cents.

Chris, although the 3870 may beat this card in 1 game(I believe UT is the game). This card beats the 3870 in almost every other scenario. Although if I only had 200 bucks I would look at the 3870. However This card normally is ~300 bucks or whatever, so for 240 bucks you can get a better card.

Also monster "Meats or beats the 8800 gts". I hope your referring to the old 8800gts, the one I posted is the new G92 which is the same gpu architecture as the 8800gt but with more stream processors(128 as opposed to 112). So this one is better, and for 240 its about the same price as an 8800gt.

Whatever though when someone is buying a video card they can make the decision, I merely wanted to post a deal for those looking for this card.

Also Shlonky, this is a pretty good model of the GTS, I have a friend who bought one a few months ago and is quite happy. I personally have two of the EVGA ones, and I love em ;)

Well I was talking in specs, benchmarks the card does edge out the 3870 but it all depends on how much money you're willing to spend.

I saw some 8800GTs for $160 ish out the door AR which is arguably more "bang for your buck" than the $240 GTS. There is also a $15 instant coupon on this deal from the egg.

Although I'm a smart shopper, I'm not exactly poor so the extra money for the GTS was well worth it to me. EIther way "bang for your buck" wise, these G92s are tough to beat.
