HEre are the drives reviewed:

Hitachi A7K1000
Samsung Spinpoint F series HD103UJ
Seagate 7200.11
Seagate Barraduda ES.2
Western Digital WD10EACS
Western Digital WD1000FYPS
Hitachi 7K1000

Also here is a quote from the final thoughts:

When choosing a drive, take a close look at what you'll be doing with the drive. All these driveseven the 5,400 RPM Western Digital GreenPower drivesare quite a bit faster than hard drives that were out a couple of years ago in the same class.

For a low power, low noise application, such as a media center PC, the GreenPower drives might be just the ticket. The WD1000FYPS RAID Edition drive would be a solid choice in that environment.

The Hitachi drives are fast, but also noisier and somewhat pricier than the competition. While the speed may be appealing, the technology in these drives is getting long in the tooth, and Hitachi needs to increase platter capacity to cut down on noise, power, and cost.

The Samsung Spinpoint HD103UJ is the real surprise here, and we'd certainly recommend it for most standard desktop environments requiring large capacities. Note that the 500GB and lower Spinpoint F drives are even quieter and use less power than the 1TB HD103UJ. On top of that, it's one of the lowest cost drives here. High performance, relatively efficient and a good valuewhat more would you want?

As long as it's not the 5400RPM shit, you're g2g. Personally I like WD and Seagate but whatever is quietest/fastest/cheapest works.

Just compare the cache and the seek/write times.
