Thats what im thinking.. i dont know why its not scoring higher. Every inch of my pc is sli certified and not mid or low grade. Its probably because i run everything on stock settings and I dont overclock at all. My games all run 70 fps+ and higher. I dont know how pcmark gages your score on what your gpu and cpu can do. Obviously the highest scores are from overclockers with uber liquid cooling and have thousands of dollars to blow... Im proud of my jalopy... and heres a pic of what I had to do to improve cooling... and laugh all you want cause that parachute cord is awsome.... :weee:

That fan i put in with the cord droped my temps on my 8800's by almost 20C... much better airflow now. Plus I crammed all the cords I could above the one drive I have.. it helped alot.

You have the 320 (or 640, but im pretty sure you have the 320) 8800GTS, Hatter has the G92 8800GTS, which is completely different and is almost on par with the 8800GTX...

I would think it would be a little higher than 13k though, my E6600 and 8800GTX scores almost 13k with a little OC (12952 actually)...

Yeh I have the 320's and its not what hatter has. Nothing outrageous. I have an E6700 and I score about the same withe the two in sli as your gtx does. If only the software that runs our hardware was better. Of course it takes alot more to make good software than hardware... The only other thing I might do to my computer is upgrade the cooling to liquid/fan. (I got 6 case fans... :dork: ) I think im set for a good gaming pc for at least another year or two.

You do realize that sli certified doesn't mean shit right? All that means is that they meet "THE MINIMUM SPEC REQUIREMENTS" to in theory, perform sli, not that part a + part b = works like all sli.

A quick question, what year of pcmark are you using? 06?

Yes 06, and I did make sure that all of my hard ware wasnt just sli certified and that it was of quality. I did register all of my hardware though so if anything does happen they can replace the sh*t for free... Most of the stuff I got has a minimum of like 3 years on warranty too, plus I dont overclock so im covered until i buy a new pc in the next couple of years.

This is what mine did... pcmark is screwing with me, now its saying just under 12k...

If you noticed the 3.0 does way damn better on these 8800's and also for some reason i got 66fps average in the canyon flight.. perhapse the sli is responsible for that. But Im scoring what it really should seeing as how I have half the cores you do, though your 8800 is a higher quality one.

Well a 8800 GTS 512 is a fair amount faster then the old GTS's, but with SLI on you should be way higher then 14k closer to 20k at least are you sure you have SLI enabled in the nvidia control panel??

KG: Get 3dmark06 here http://www.futuremark.com/

Bumble: You have two 320 gts cards so its a pretty respectable score. In all actuality sli'ing the 320s is somewhat of a waste. The major reason for SLI is better looks at high resolution. But with the 320 your video memory is just not going to really cut it. So pretty much you have twice the gpu processing power but your still only using 320 video ram.

You could probably get into the 14s if you over clocked your CPU though. However its probably not even worth it because with a score of 13k your pc will pretty much handle anything you throw at it...

Yeh that was what I was thinking. The main thing though is I got a 2nd gts becuase I didnt want to get another power source. My 600w can handle two gts 320's with ease but anything above will strain it severly. Plus I dont like the thought of a 1000W psu running all the time... And yes my pc can run damn near anything. The only time it slows down is when you play games like crysis or oblivion on max setings. Here is something strange though. If you look at the picture I posted above you will see the 2nd fan I rigged up in the lower front of the case with parachute cord... It drasticly reduced the temps of the system from 50C to 34C and both 8800's run 10C cooler than before. However my cpu has gone from running in the mid 30's to the mid 40's and maxing out at about 55 under heavy heavy load. (those temps are still ok but I like in the 30's a whole lot more than the 50's...) I think that the type of heatsink and fan that are on it is slowing down the airflow to the back of the case so i think im gonna get one of the zalman or something else cpu fans that blow horizontally and not down onto the motherboard.

Just noticed something strange... in xp my first card runs 4C hotter... in vista the 2nd card runs 5C hotter... wth is goin on there?

The highest i've hit is 11,550 with no overclock. Just shutting down background apps. The way I look at it, if it runs the games you play well.. then score doesnt mean sh*t. My E8400 runs idle at 25-30C and my HD3870 runs 35-40. After playing 2 hours of Bioshock Maxed Out, my CPU was 40 and my GPU was 55. I still have to add the side case fan that blows on the video card. I'm just running the stock Intel cooler at the moment. And all my case fans are medium. Just be happy with what you got. It's a decent setup if you ask me Bumble. I don't see you getting a much higher score without overclocking. And personally.. After putting this much money into it. I wouldn't risk it. Thats why I run stock. Maybe if I had to I would.. but as of right now I don't see the point. I can play all the games I have with no problems.

Personally Id get a different cpu cooler, the stock ones tend to be of much less quality but those are nice temps for that cpu, cooler than mine. I just ordered a Zalman 9500A Led. I couldnt get the 9700 due to the chipset heatsink on my 680i but the main reason for getting it was the current heatsink I got right now (Thermaltake Golden Orb II) blows the air down onto the motherboard and hinders the airflow of the case big time. So with the zalman shooting the air twards the rear exhaust fan it should cool the cpu much better than mixing the air like the orb is doing right now. My gpus are running 60-65C at idle and no more than 75 under load for a long time. Considering they used to run in the 80's Im very happy with how this case is handleing the 8800's seeing as how it was designed around 2003-2004. I almost bought a liquid cooling system for the cpu but said no to that. If I ever go liquid Ill spend a fortune on something top notch and not some cheap crap. Plus what I was seeing on the stats on typical liquid coolers they barley got below the best air coolers so I got a zalman and cant wait to see how it improves this system. It should be the last thing I need unless I get more ram which is pointless with xp and vista unless you got the 64 bit version.. but thats another story. Ive been really picky about what goes in this pc and am trying to get what I can out of it but compared to the region I live in, I probably have one of the fastest pc's in the area.( for now) I think its so funny though when you look up the fastest systems and can only imagine how much money they put into them. I have yet to break the $1000 for this pc :P Im happy as hell with that fact! :weee:

I like your SLI setup, but I didn't want to nag this... you should take some time out of a day and uhh.. tuck some cables away. Keeps a better flow in your case ^^

Better flow:
Cooler Cpu
Cooler Gpu(s)
Happy Computer ;D
