Great movie. It's based in Rio, Brazil during the 60's to 70's. It's about the violence, drug trafficking, and urban sprawl of the slums (City of God). Well told, great visuals, and narration. It's all in Portuguese, but use your f*cking brain and read the subtitles. I'm not going to give anything away.

I'm pretty sure not ALL of its in Portugease but then, when thinking back, i can't differentiate what scenes were in English or Portugease...so, I wouldnt say the subtitles impacted the movie all that much, at least in a negative way. I'm almost to the point of thinkin that if there weren't subtitles(all in English), the movie would be worse...but meh.

But yeah, I've seen it once before and was honestly surprised at the quality...great movie.

It was all in Portuguese with English subtitles - I saw it yesterday.

there was a cheap sequel (if you could call it that) called City of Men made that wasn't too bad either. Not as good as City of God (which is one of my favorite movies ever) but much better than I was expecting
