welll if u could have a computer with the limits being processor at 3.3ghz best everything else find the parts make a list and link em to the site you found em, i want to see how many people would like to build...we need ideas lol

Sorry, but I'm going to resurrect this old post. Please don't ban me shadow! (my fellow Tech junkie!)

Wow, any computer eh? I'll even make it somewhat realistic:

I'd like to go with Shadow's 8xOpteron's overclocked on phase shift cooling to 3.5GHz each, but that's a bit too pricy. I'll stick with 2 Opteron 254's overclocked with phase shift to 3.5GHz each. Throw in a Dell 2405FPW widescreen monitor, 2x1GB sticks of Mushkin Redline XP4000 memory, 2xWD Raptor 15k's, and (at the moment since ATI is so damn slow!) 2 SLI'd XFX 7800 GTX's overclocked to 500/655 (and low power consumption, wooo!). Throw on Logitech 5300 Surround Sound, an MX518, my basic Dell Quiet touch keyboard (got it in 2001 and it's the best thing I've ever used!) and an OCZ Powerstream 600W psu all in an Antec/Cooler Master case.

Yeeeeeeeeah, that'd be fun. Cost me a bit too much though.

Well i just spent 801 on a new tower, nothing real flashy, just trying to make sure it can last a few years before i get a permanent job before i dish out the real deal. Basically:

3700+ AMD64 (8 meg cache, you know the regular mid range sh*t)
6600 Geforce 256mb
1024 mb ddr ram (dont remember details, not important anyways,)
got a free copy of HL2
SLi empty PCI-E 16x slot for upgrade if needed in 3 years
120 GB HD 7200 rpm ATA100 or something

If i had the money though, id upgrade to dual raptors 120+gb, dual 4700+ amd's, wait for windows 2003, dual geforce 7800GTX's, nothing incredibly flashy like dual linked motherboards, and 4 processors. That's....overkill? Darkshadow would like to argue that I imagine.
