"The European Union's new complaint against Microsoft really takes one back. Like, a decade or so.

Its objection--that bundling a browser into the operating system violates antitrust law--is the same one that U.S. regulators raised in 1996.

The newest allegations stem from a 2007 complaint by Norway's Opera that Microsoft was hurting competition by including Internet Explorer in Windows and by not better adhering to Web standards."

I hate Internet Explorer as much as the next person but the EU really needs to shut the fuck up on this one. IMO it's butthurt Operafags who get all pissy because their browser fails to get market share because it's shitty itself. I understand leaving WMP out (which actually should be left in because the average consumer doesn't know what a fucking codec is, much less that other media players exist), but IE is part of the OS.

What I'd like to know is if they'll be fair--if MS can't include IE, Apple can't include Safari or QuickTime, Linux can't include Firefox or mplayer. This is bullshit, how are people even supposed to download another browser if there's no goddamn browser included with the OS?

Discuss.

1. Firefox isn't created and maintained by Linux, it's merely put in with the OS installer. IE and Safari are both created and maintained by the OS's creator. So lumping them together is retarded.

2. This is an incredibly good thing. Coding for IE is a pain in the ass because they have to make IE a fucking special bitch. Chrome, Safari, and Firefox interpret coding a lot more similar then IE does.

3. Why all the hate on the EU? You quoted it yourself that America brought this issue up over 12 years ago.

So seriously Chris, stop taking every legal action against Microsoft like they are going after you. Seriously man, you've been acting like a fucking Mac-Fag, but for Microsoft.

So let me get this straight, your flaming the consumers freedom to chose what they want to use on their PC instead of supporting it, your swimming upstream like a mindless drone with your rants, post after post you look like more of a winFag and I must say you disappoint me.

Honestly, This is a very good thing and I'd like to see it happen with every module windows spits out that tries to take over the market, they've long had a monopoly on every piece of software that your computer runs and try their hardest to discredit hard working coders by purchasing patents for already existing technology to incorporate (steal) others work, for example IE7-8 stealing firefox / opera's tabs and so forth.

also as a reply to your question pertaining to find a *different browser when IE isn't installed*, that's quite simple, give the consumer a choice when you click the *I want internets button*, it would bring up a list of the top 5 browsers and let you select what you, the consumer wants, they could also incorporate the same thing with the default search engine instead of trying to monopolize on every single thing you see / do.

also, not having to have 2 web browsers is always a good thing to save hdd space (who the hell cares) little bit faster installation (probably not even noticeable) and you wont always get those stupid annoying updates for IE, (ahh there now were talking)

being a NAZI about everything is apple's job.
