X3 to X4
Now I do see this happening as AMD just deactivates the 4th core. Which you have to realize, this may be due to the 4th core not working at all, makes the processor unstable, or it just plain has issues that prevents the 4th core from running. This may be a very rare case but interesting nonetheless.

ya I agree with you Scroll these things are prolly binned since a core is broken, unlocking it probably is more risk than what its worth. However if the X3 becomes extremely popular AMD will probably just start to mod down the working X4's to keep up with the demand. Kind of like Nvidia did with the 6600 series...
