My buddy sent me a free version of a game with a key generator. He ensured they were safe, because he used them a while ago without problems. When I run the key gen my avast pops up with this:
Sign of "Win32:rootkit-gen [Rtk]" has been found in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\beep.sys" file.
I immediately quarantine the file and scan it, which comes up with no virus. I run spybot, ccleaner, windows malware removal, etc nothing. I run HJT and theres one entry that bothers me :
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{51000E7A-4070-4290-B6E6-10CBAD0B1F28}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
Any thoughts on this?
