Apparently people at hardocp had to much time on their hands and decided to shoot HD's with a 50 cal w/amour piercing round...

check it out, pretty cool linky

btw, the fact that civilians have access to that kinda firepower reiterates my opinion that americans are crazy

Some states that .50 API ammo is actually against the law to possess.

Though Soulwind, you'll note that most US regulations on AP ammo are on handgun ammo. In the case of a .50 cal it on it's own standard round can go through nearly an inch of steel. But with handgun they are easily concealed and commonly used in shootings, while it's a rare case to find a .50 cal used in a shooting, let alone someone concealing a 4-5Ft gun that can weight up to 40lbs.

Yup, I'm pretty sure you have to own a dealer's license and even then most of it is strictly law-enforcement only sales. They're kind of touchy when it comes to rifles and ammunition capable of bringing down small aircraft.
