Shadow/Ezekiel download this yet? Wondering if it's worth bringing my laptop over to my friend's to download it for something to do or if it's a waste of time. ;)

Its pretty good, the dog fights are fun. The main problem with it though is the horrible interface. Its much improved in Terran Conflict, but still pretty horrible. Its unnoticeable until the late game when you get a large fleet, but when you do... man are you going to curse the interface.

Yeah, it's basically EVE Offline, but with more of a sim feel. There's enough of a command map to make a keyboard feel overloaded. But it's pretty entertaining for times when you're without a proper desktop PC or without an internet connection.

Like Nova said though, the interface is less annoying later on when you're letting your fleet do all the dirty work for you, or having a bunch of NPCs running all your trade routes and mining.

true Ezekiel, one thing I always hated though was having one of the m1 / m2 ships and having it crash into gates, astroids and stations though, the AI seemed to make that happen lots more.

if you're referring to that TinyISO release was nuked for using a beta crack with no copy protection, so no better than the old cloneCD from 1 year ago.

I worded it kinda weird... what i meant to say is that its worse when you have a large fleet (not counting automated stuff like auto traders)... because if you want to make your fleet go anywhere, you'll have to individually command them to hyper jump, to attack, etc... Its ok when you only have a fighter or only a wing of ships because all you have to do is fly yourself pretty much.

The pathfinding for the AI is also bad.. it will get confused a lot if you are in system. When you are out of system, everything is simplified and there is no collision detection, but when you are in there, large ships will crash into gates, small ships will have no idea how to get around an asteroid sometimes..

Its still really fun though, its just kind of annoying that things that are pretty simple to fix and have been done way better before are causing some problems for this game. I still really like it though, but with a bit of work, it could have been so much better.

I take back what I originally said about the release being nuked, granted, it is nuked but they used the beta crack that removes the copy protection from what I've read so it should work fine I would think.

Well I VNC'd into my torrent machine at a business to have it download during nights while they are closed so i should have it done in a few days for something to do. Having dialup blows dick, getting old real fast.
