The Saboteur

Basically a GTA clone set in WWII occupied France.
The story
The game has a pretty interesting story, though if anything a bit predictable in most parts. But that doesn't stop it from being interesting enough to pull you in. You may not develop any real concern for the characters, but it's an interesting ride. Without spoiling too much, the basic story is you're out to avenge your best friend's death.
The Controls
On the PC the shooting controls were solid, if you've ever played any GTA game on PC then driving controls should be familiar enough. Though if not the controls, while not perfect, work well enough to keep you from being frustrated while using the WASD keys for driving. Climbing is a breeze with the WASD to control which direction to climb, while hitting space to jump from ledge to ledge. Sometimes the auto climb will get in the way when trying to jump off small ledges, but again nothing distracting.
The Gameplay
To reiterate, this is basically GTA. You have a large free roaming city to explore, and lots of Nazi crap to blow up. Currency in the game is in the form of contraband that you get from random crates in the game, completing missions, or blowing up random Nazi property (Like watch towers, tanks, radar, spot lights, Anti-Air guns, etc.). You in turn use that to buy guns, ammo, upgrades and the other essentials. As for weapons you have an assortment of pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles, rifles, rocket launchers, shotguns, flamethrowers, grenades and explosives. Vehicles range from a sidecar motorcycle to a heavy tank. Though you can take a lot of punishment on foot in this game with the health regen system.
The Rest
The soundtrack is fitting to the game and I found enjoyable, the one liners are a bit repeated after some play time. The AI in the game is pretty basic, they wont take cover or anything fancy, just try and kill you. Graphics are pretty decent, nothing spectacular, but what you'd expect in this day an age.
The Verdict
Considering this game is from Developer Pandemic which EA let go a few weeks before The Saboteur's release, means that any issues most likely wont be polished out. Though the game doesn't really do anything ground breaking, and it really doesn't set the standard for anything, it still doesn't do anything horribly wrong either. In the end The Saboteur is just a good, enjoyable game meant for a good ride. Take it for what it is and you wont regret playing this game.
8/10

1) How were the submissions/minigames? I'm assuming garden variety GTA style but I was hoping this was where the game would separate itself.
2) Do I really have to be a Frenchman?

2 questions:
1) How were the submissions/minigames? I'm assuming garden variety GTA style but I was hoping this was where the game would separate itself.
2) Do I really have to be a Frenchman?
1) Mini games consist from throwing knives at a spinning wheel to score cash/a car to bird hunt style game. While submissions are basically GTA style, racing, killing, etc.
2) You're actually an Irishman with a love for whiskey, broads, cars and cigarettes.

0/10 for not being compatible with ati cards
Have the same problem with my friend's car, I can't use my key in his car, I give Subaru a 0/10 for not being compatible with dodge keys.
See how rediculous that is? Exactly

Lol.
I use a 3870 and yes, it crashed a bit, but on average it only happened every 4-5 hours of straight game play.

I just find it odd/just like EA, to not have done any testing on varied machines. Not working for the more recent ATI cards is a pretty big issue. But what can you expect its EA
There is now a patch out for it.
