Anyone here have experience running A/V signals from a "media closet" say, in the kitchen, to the rest of the house via Cat5e? I ran 6 lines of cat5e to every room in the house. Should have used Cat6, but didn't f*ckin know about it. More importantly, how to control all the equipment.

Using a HDMI over Cat5e 8x8 A/V matrix system. Comes with a single remote(IR) and 8 thingies that go from the unit to the video sources. Longest span of use would be around 120' from the 3rd floor. Was thinking of using those repeater systems that convert IR to RF, shoot the signal to the closet, then convert it back to IR so it can control the video sources. Has anyone ever used this type of control system, or have experience with this type of thing. Also has to be tard proof so my wife can use it. Basically need 8 remotes for the televisions.

If not, I'll just troll the internet forever or hire some overly expensive douche to sell me something that won't work.

I must be old fashioned..... I keep my media center next to my television so I don't have to hassle myself running cables. People make things so complicated @_@

I think Constantine wants to have a single media center that is accessible from multiple TVs across the house.
