I'm not very good at speccing out computers, but holy sh*t.
There is zero need for this computer. At the very most spend
1.2k or so and get an amazing rig running. Really have no
idea where that extra 8.8 grand is being sunk into. You
think people could just give that extra money to starving
kids lol.

there is never a need for an exorbitantly priced computer. There is always a cheaper alternative that tends to work out much better anyway.

Sheep, what is that computer for?

well just having that intel hexa-core makes it like 1000 dollars more expensive and not worth it, well unless you want to run a lot of instances of Crysis then take pics and brag about it to your friends.

CPU: 950
GPU: 4x500 (perhaps more if watercooled, each block costs around 100 more)

Memory and everything else was unspecified, but I could build that exact system and a ton better for maybe 3-4k,Dual 12core Opterons + 2x 5970's with 64gb ram anyone? :)

Holy crap thats insane, especially for what seems to be a hobby machine.

Then again I know quite a few people who have spent $5k+ on their desktops. They are their working rigs, also they are Mac Pro's, so we must insert random mac trolling.

Mac pros are the most overpriced pieces of garbage i have ever seen, and this $10k ripoff comes close.

Im not going to get into this again, but the high end machines are fairly priced. When I bought mine they were fairly priced, in fact they were cheaper than most windows based machines. The single core ones are WAY over priced.

Is this a well known company? Like can they compare to falcon northwest or how Alienware was in the past? Do they have that same kind of brand recognition in the gaming world?

Or is it just some random company trying to make a ton of money and a name for themselves?

@Doc, lol fuckoff man, Mac's are no different than PC's component wise, why pay extra for the stupid white/silver coated plastic when you can build it yourself.

@sheep, I don't see why not, price seems pretty workable.

Sheep, no doubt you can make a great machine for that.

Shadow, @your f*ck off, yes that is my point. Thats why some of their machines arent bad deals. Not every mac made is a rip off, some are more than others. You know enough about hardware to see this.

Once again, looking at it from two different views. f*cking haters.

Wait so proof is picking 1 example and it being true? The example you used isnt even that bad of a deal. You want bad go look at the single CPU Mac Pro's! Thats a rip off.

LAWL proof! I win!

Apple Mac Pro
Two 2.66GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” (12 cores)
6GB (6X1GB)
1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB
One 18x SuperDrive
$4999

Dell Precision T7500 64bit Dual Processor
Dual Six Core Intel® Xeon® Processor X5650, 2.66GHZ
6GB (6X1GB)
1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s hard drive
256MB NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 295, 2MON, 2 DP w/ 1 DP to DVI Adapter
16X DVD+/-RW w/ Cyberlink PowerDVD
$5655.00

There is a value to everything. A Macbook Air is not a good deal. Mac Pro's are a good deal when they first come out. 27" iMac isnt a bad deal, not quite good either.

Its just the blind hatred that seems to confuse me. How can someone be so ignorant. Either way im done, cant argue with retards.

You can't get a Dell Precision T7500 with 6x1gb ram, its not possible.

BTW: its not blind hatred, its fact. I don't understand how an (obvious) macfag can justify paying more for something (like that laptop?) just because its made by apple. What surprises me even more is that you can blow off obvious proof of the overpriced-ness of apple products as "its really not that bad".

About the Apple workstation: Is the processor a X5650 like the Dell, or a cheaper "2.66 Ghz Westmere" like the E5640?
Could the RAM, motherboard and hard drive be like that too? What about the cooling, those Westmere's run hot.

Look over here

This is for you

Learn your sh*t before you start trying to defend a BS company like Apple.
Go kill yourself

what two different views? the Yuppie scum point of view where buying overpriced shit is worthwhile? quit living in your fucking fantasy and compare the hardware used in both and you will see its a giant ripoff.

also inb4 stock cooler on $4000 PC.
