Read a review here... Review They are changing the relation of the name gpu name to the power of the card, 5870 was high end, 6870 is med grade power for grahpics now. They gota new core but still 40 nm. I dont like that review that much as it wasnt acurate with what my 5870's perform at. The cooling section was laughable as mine never break 55C and they got the 5870's and 6870's over 70C. Dont think ill be wasting my time with gpus for a long time as it is.

imo, it's good but you can't compare 6870 to 5870 because the 6800's are mostly 5700 midrange as you typed, tbh when christmas comes I will buy a 6870 to replace my existing 4890 and call it a day I think, the prices are great as well, 6850 for 189... 6870 for 240 MSRP... that's beast, and really fucks nvidia hard to spark a pricewar which is great for us consumers.

Thats the best part was that the 6870 was performing at 5870's level, but for a hell of alot less. I paid $400 a pop for the 5870's granted ive had them for a year now, thats a damn good price. Bah on nvidia.. Those 5870's in crossfire will last me... years :P

Ya I really can't complain with my 5870's in xfire...too bad there is no game out their worth playing that uses all that horsepower.

It really is just for 3dmark scores now a days.

yep, just waiting til around December to see whats available before I make any final calls, then I'll chuck this 4890 on ebay.
