i need a laptop. i dont want one that can do anything more than internet and word but i want it to be fast also i dont want to spend a lot. could anyone recommend a good laptop, one without all that extra stuff that ads fill in that i dont need. or a website that i could find good lap tops at, maybe custom ones. ive looked into the inpiration laptops at dell.com so far i think thats my best pick.

Laptops are a waste of money

They last 2-3 years before they become a paper weight. They run hot and over time all the compenents will expand and retract reducing performance dramatically. 2 of the 4 fans in my laptop stopped working 1 year after i bought it.

They're very difficult to upgrade and after 1year, you can buy the laptop you just bought for $2000 for only $500 on ebay

Laptops suck, they arn't upgradable and then you have to buy a mouse because you just try playing cs:s with a touchpad, and they are HOTTER because they are all cramped, and the keyboard is too damn small, and the screen is smaller, and you have to buy speakers cause the ones on the laptop probly suck like the one i used to have, and they don't glow like mine, and if you spill something on the keyboard your f*cked, and theres not enough room for a 2 cd/dvd drives like I have, and they cost more, and you only get like, 3 USP ports unlike the 7 I have, and did I mention they SUCK?

jeez guys, he just wanted some help in buying a laptop.
There are other reasons a laptop might be better than a Desktop, like PORTABILITY.

Anyways Derek, I am looking for a laptop for my boss.

I always recommend that you figure out how much money you are willing to spend and try to find the best computer for that price.

If you run winxp, go for a minimum of 512 mb of ram.
For games, ATI makes a mobility radeon series of cards, but they are pricey and won't come standard on older laptops.

Just take the lack of upgradablity into account. Make sure all of your needs (CPU, HD, Graphics card, etc) are met, because they are quite a pain in the ass to upgrade (if at all).

Just so every one knows i always play cs on my laptop and the keyboard isnt cramped. I have a dell so all I could recomend is a dell as long as you arent doing any gaming on it. But if you are then you will probally have to spend alot more money.
I would get a laptop that is at least this good.
2.6 G processor
512 ram
20 G hard drive
