Sup guys, I have my old dell here, and I want to add new parts to it so i can make it game ready.

The computer I am using now is good, but my parents are taking this computer and giving me the old computer.

The old computers specs are:
750 Mhz intel processor
integrated crap 3D something
128 mb ram
18 Gb hard drive

I want to take this stuff out and put some new parts in.

I don't know what processor and motherboard to buy, its either AMD or intel, I don't know which one is better.

If i get an AMD, what AMD should I purchase?
And what graphics card should i get?
DDR or DDR2 (1-1.5 GB)?

I was thinking to buy all these parts to add up less than $700 USD?

Any help and comments would be appreciated :9:

get an amd processor. I have a pentium 4 2.0 and it runs games pretty well with my geforce 6800. Any amd processor equivalent to that and up would be good. As for motherboards you just have to look around read reviews. Alot of people on the forums might have good suggestions for amd motherboards. I have a pentium so i do not know much about amd motherboards. Just make sure it is agp 8x or pci express. And make sure it supports the latest ram. The best thing you can do is go to websites like tom's hardware and read reviews. Hope you get some real kick-ass stuff. And have fun building it.

Buy a new one. You won't salvage much from your old PC.

I concur. With the look of those specs, I dunno if a new mobo will fit in your case. I'll just list some ideal specs for you if you wanna upgrade or new comp or whatever:

AMD 3200+ Winchester - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819103502
MSI K8T NEO2 Motherboard - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813130469
Corsair Ram - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820145480
eVga 6600GT - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130220

Plus a decent power supply, a pretty good metal case, and some fans, it should come out to around $600.

yep, get that... then overclock the 3000 like a biatch... the x90 is a well decent cooler, should be more than enough to get it to 4000 speeds, thatll save you a few $$$.

I would tend to have to agree with most everyone else on this, just get rid of the computer, its worthless. In my humble opinoin get a Intel P4 that is what I have running and I love it.
