Ok, the x700 (non pro) is about on par with the 6600 (non gt).

On a plus, the card seems to run a bit better in 3dmark which is normally a good test of a graphics cards abilities, due to the various techniques involved, and it's also a non-nvidia biased program.

If it's an xt version, then it's a little better than the 9800 xt and virtually the same as a 6600gt.

I'm not sure how much you are paying for this card, but it's definately worth going for this over the 9800 cards, since im sure it employs new instruction sets and probably overclocks well due to a newer core. That being said, if it's only a little extra for a cheap x800, you may wanna go with one of those instead. Try ebay, lots of bargains on there :1:

Definately go with the card though if you've got your heart set on it, with a decent system, you should average around 70fps, which is pretty good for a mid range card.

Good luck!

I too looked at the x700 chipset when I was shopping. This was a couple weeks ago now, but I ended up getting the X800XL instead. It was well worth it.. Keeping in mind I wanted a fairly substancial upgrade from a 9800pro that I already had. (I accidentally bought a mobo with PCI-E slots instead of AGP so I couldn't re-use the 9800 like I had originally planned - duh me). There are a lot of "good" reasons to get the X800XL if you look at some reviews.

A cool place for reference is here: http://graphics.toms...1222/index.html

Good luck, have fun shopping.. I know I did. :D

If its coming with the x700.. thats cool. Its still a really good card. Unfortunately as soon as you get something for your computer something better is out the next day. You'll like it.. :) I bet the x850's will come down, but not for at least another year. Vid cards don't seem to be dropping prices as fast as other things are.
