i am going over to this guys house to remove some viruses and adware. He said he opened a file that was sent to him in an email by a friend. When he opened it a message popped up that said "how do you like pop-ups." Has anyone ever heard of this. Is it a virus or adware or what? he said he hasnt had any popups but his computer has been running slow as hell. My guess would be adware.

You should run Microsoft Antispyware on his PC. It's very good.

Here's the link to get it: clicky.

everytime i use microsoft anti-spyware during safe mode it crashes for some reason. What i do that works good is boot in safe mode, run adaware, then start normally and run the microsoft one. of course if yours works in safe mode you wont need too.
