i have a 9800xt. i always used to say 9800pro on the forums, but i just found out i have a xt not a pro. but im tired of people saying how its crap and outdated. and people saying it cant run bf2 or the hdr settings on dod, or doom. i can run dom3 on ultra, bf2 on high, and hdr on full with my 9800xt. i know its not the best card out now for sure. but theres nothing that it cant do causing people talking sh*t about it, i mean the frame rate wont be as good as a 7800gtx for sure. is it outdated or people just talking crap becaue its RADEON? im just curious, because i dont know a lot about computers and their parts. in my opinion i dont think itll get outdated until maybe unreal 3 engine.

its a weeee bit outdated... but not so much that people should diss it.. look at the results of the hardware survey for steam... notice how most people are on 9600/9800 series cards... so yeah.. its still better than mine.. 9600 pro.. doh!

yeah i looked at that but i couldnt take it seriously in that the majority put down they have 1 gig of ram total and less than 1 gig available. so people were obviously just playing around with the answers. but im sure the majority answered by what they had.

Too many haters, they're either jealous, or jealous, lol. If you like it, does what you need it to do and you don't need to spend more money than you have to, that's all that matters.

9800 pro (or xt in your case), is a sweet card. Especially for the price and the fact that it plays modern games pretty f*ckin well.

I had a 9800 pro for a long time, and I loved it. I shelled out for the x850 xt this summer, but it cost $400 CDN ($345 USD).

It is pretty sweet, especially the HDR in DOD:S.

oh By the way, Doom 3 on Ultra? sure, that requires 512MB of Video Memory Last I checked though..

and HDR is only supportive on X800 series boards and boards of similar design

even if u can turn it on, doesnt mean it works.

9800 is a good solid card. Oh, and HDR can suck it. You would think they would fix memory leak in the game, then worry about HDR. Whatever

yeah thats what i hear, shadow. my suitemate is always b*tching about my hdr working. hes like holly sh*t how the f*ck does it work. he made me take my sh*t out so he could see my card. he didnt believe it was working with hdr. then i run ultra on doom3 to show him what it can do it. im not lying it realy can run doom 3 on the highest...i got screenshots but i cant attach them. can anyone send me a screenshot of dod with hdr. because i have it set on full and im pretty sure hdr is working. the day does turn from light to dark and the lighting is amazing. i hear from some people exactly what shadow said. that hdr wont work and doom3 wouldnt work, but i show them. but then shadow says i could be running it on the setttings but im not getting the full effect. so can someone post some screens that shows off hdr? thatd be cool to compare. i dont need any of doom3, my suite mate installed it on his computer which has the x850 xt and it doesnt look any better, he couldnt run the resolution as high as me. two of my buds came up with a theory after b*tching about how i got another vid card than i say. one said it was made by god, the other said my computer is lost in the space time continum and can do whatever. what a bunch of douches, 9800xt is running this stuff...i think. i mean im not testing you guys or arguing im just curious why there are so many forums and people say it doesnt work. if it was outdated i would buy another card if i had the money, but as far as i know it, everything is working.

yeah me and shadow compared screenshots yesterday from dod to compare the hdr. theres more detail with his x800xt platinum than my 9800xt for sure. i mean its still a beautiful game, anyone who saw a game run on a 9800 would be amazed. its just more little details. like finer lines in the currents n the water. and shinier textures in the rocks. but man dod is a beautiful game and i dont plan on upgrading for a couple years. im guessing in 2007 ill upgrade everything and start from scratch with windows vista even though thatll be out next year.

The 9800 is still a good card. Hell, I managed to run Doom3 on Ultra quality with my 9600 Pro...not a great framerate obviously, and I couldnt load the second level, but whatever..

Point is, old doesn't mean bad. Hell, I'm running on a radeon 9000 with a broken PCI mounting bracket, and I still manage to pwn at CSS. Hell yeah!
