you guys know anything about that virus going around on aim. its a 'l;ove trojan' as it came up on my friends mcafree results. sends links to everyone on your buddylist to a link that says 'this is cool' or 'check out this pic!' well i clicked one didnt come up. so i copied and pasted hyperlink nothing came up in my browser so i exited outl. i dont know how to tell if i have it. i got a firewall and a lot of programs but i wouldnt think definitions would be out yet for this. anyone know what im talking about?

edit: nortons blocked 42, uh now 95 times, attempts about an hour after i clicked the link. so it didnt get through. but a lot of people have it. so dont click on it. its going all around my college, and people at toheres.

goto start, run, regedit, then search your registry for trojan, and delete all of the ones that relate to the "love trojan" if that dosent work get adaware SE at download.com and spybot search and destroy, sometimes a trojan can hide with a spyware or an adware program if that dosent work ill get u an anti trojan off the net.

thanks haven. ive never heard of regedit but i opened it and wow there are a lot of files and folders to look for a reg key. i figured it would be under applicatins sine im familiar with softwre. i scanned it i didnt see anything that looked harmful, im pretty sure nortons blocked it and nothing got through. i restarted my computer and it doesnt say anything is getting through. im usually pretty careful about these things. because last auguest, 2 weeks after i got my pc, i got the blaster virus from lyrics.com that virus f*cked me up. disabling any antispyware programs i had, blocked search results to re download it (this is another virus i guess, bc blaster i dont think can do this) but blaster restarts my computer every 60 seconds and filled it up with junk. nortons and spy bot got rid of it but there was so much spy ware that kept comng back, the same files too. some reg key just 'recreated' itself after i delete it. so i took it to bestbuy and got it spyware redicted. he showed me how to use msconfig and said bios is a good way to find stuff, but im not familiar with bios. im pretty careful where i go online and d/l, and im sure i dont have anything harmful on my computer i was just checking because i think this trojan is hard to detect, but im pretty sure i dont have it. i have adaware and spybot and spysweeper, nortons too. they didnt find anything, but they never do. thanks

any other cool programs?

besides ad-aware SE and spybor search and destroy theres trend micro which is my favorite antivirus (remember if u get something get the CD key from seriall.com) another good one is the AVG free version if u dont have a firewall it works well enough. Thats what i use and i dont know anything else that works as well

i just dont use AOL IM. I use trillian. Which is basically the same thing, although you can have a few messengers on at the same time in the same window and the protection is great. i remember i clicked on one of those links and nothing happened.

Trillian is the way to go! I attend Indiana State University and that Aim virus has been going around to everyone that uses it. If your stuck using multiple chat programs i would suggest going with Trillian. It allows you to use your msn, aim, icq, irc, and yahoo account names all under one program. No troubles so far with Trillian so give it a try if you want.
