patch failure for fear

everyone else i know installed the patch 1.01 for FEAR without a problem. when i install it, it says "aborting patch, game not installed." why would it say this? i bought the directors cut, and i want to play online damnt. does anyone know how to fix this besides uninstalling and resinistalling. if not ill beat the game first then unisntall.

Hey i have never played the game yet but is there a chance that you might have got a bad file. Not from the game install but the patch update download. I would maybe try downloading the patch from another mirror or try from another site. That may be able to fix the problem, but i can't be sure. Lata :dork:

hey thanks, but i figured this out last week. damn right about a corrupted file. i uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times. then i couldnt delete it. said some error message. so i ran it in safe mode. went in and found any file i oculd and manually deleted it. still couldnt. logged in as administrator. deleted it. safe mode, reinstall, took hours on safe mode. re booted, works now. and the second patch worked fine 1st try.

Well it's good to hear that you got it running ok. Even though it might have taken awhile, you now know if you have the same problem in the future you can go and fix it. Later.
