[At The Gates]

ok..im running an intergrated sound card that suposedly handle HD sound and 5.1 surround....well ive had my speakers hooked up for awhile, and now all of a sudden(3 days ago to be exact) the sound stops working...so I reinstall the drivers for my sound card, check all my wires...and now theres "some" sound, but only if I crank the speakers all the way, and even still I get no sound from my subwoofer, and 2 speakers, and under the settings I have it set to 5.1, ive even tried messing with that to get it to work.The real kick in the ass though is I get perfect sound in all the other games I play i.e BF2, Fear, UT2004, and EQ2.
only does it on steam games, and its pissing me off,so if anyone can help id preciate it.

so the speakers only fck up w/steam apps? maybe a setting in steam, idk check ur audio in cstrike if thats whut ur playin. i mean if its workin in other apps then its defly not the soundcard

Yeah, dude, check out the settings; however, ive never had a problem like that. If nothing helps, reinstall.

if it is not your steam settings, make sure you have the onboard audio disabled in your bios!

hey i had the exact same problem with my speakers, they were messed up in css but worked fine everywhere else. and i was using the onboard 5.1 sound on the Asus k8n-e delux. i fought with it for about a week then went and bought the sound blaster audigy 4. everything works fine now, i can hear the flys around the dumpsters in the garage... i love it..

Yeah, i need a new sound card, as well as a new computer, lol. I have good headphones, so i hear everything, but random card glitches with its random sounds pisses me off sometimes.

i am really impressed with the audigy 4. plus it comes with an ir remote, if nothing else it looks nice sittin on my desktop

im not even going to bother with it, ive been approved for a credit card for 3 grand, oh boy am I gonna get in trouble with it...ive already got the list of parts for my next rig.
and to add ill be using about 2200 on the credit card.....lord help me..

hehe im mostly joking, im buying it maybe 2-3 pieces at a time, first up it the cpu and mobo, im still looking at mobos, but ive decided 100% I want the amd 64 4000+, im sick of intel, and I mostly play games, so the duel core processors are out of the question for me.
