Phil Harrison, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, has claimed that the Xbox 360 doesnt have true HD functionality and that consumers looking for such functionality will have to wait for the PlayStation 3 to arrive.
In an exclusive interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Harrison said: "As you well know, the Xbox 360 doesn't play high definition movies and doesn't have true HD functionality - PlayStation 3 is the only format that has 1080-progressive, which is the true definition of HD, so it's really premature to be talking about the HD era."
"The HD era really only starts when we are on the market," he concluded.

Peter Jackson's King Kong (Xbox 360)
Speaking to the BBC, Yves Guillemot has admitted the Xbox 360 version of Peter Jacksons King Kong has an issue which causes the game to be displayed too dark on many standard definition television sets.
It appears that the development team primarily used high-definition televisions while working on the game and overlooked how it would display on standard TVs.
"We have a problem on the 360," Mr. Guillemot told the BBC News website. "The screen is dark on some TVs and it totally changes the experience. When it's dark, you don't see where you have to go."
"I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't see it when we were developing the game," said the CEO of Ubisoft. "We are looking to see if we can fix the code."
