that happens to me a lot with windows media player. what i do it just view in full screen and then exit full screen, then the picture is normal. but if i move the mouse it goes back to an all black screen or if i scroll down the page. it doesnt always happen but when it does that always works. not sure how to fix it tho...maybe a reinstall

Same thing happens to me with on-site videos sometimes.
This never happened anywhere else.
Re-install, i guess. I dont think its the codec. It would not play at all, if you didnt have the right codec.

codecs can give you sound but no video, video w/o sound, sound and discolored video etc etc... whoever invented codecs needs a good schlappin... they improve nothing IMO.
VLC is really easy... no hassles at all man.

idk what the problem is, cud be a number of things. if it doesnt play stuff it used to, its not the codecs. is the software problem. reinstall and see whats the deal. for codecs, search for the kmlcodec package. those things kickass. if u cant find a site that has one, i can getchu one. has almost all the codecs out there in one easy install.
