This is probably going to be a long post but please help!!!

Basically this is what happend. I came back to school today, hooked everything up, started up my computer, and tried to get on the internet to read the forums and play CSS.

I WAS DENIED!

Instead i get redirected to some sh*t webpage from my school telling me it is not safe for me to go on the internet. I need to download "Cisco" (I still havent figured out what the f*ck it does), uninstall my firewall, uninstall my antivirus, and download their firewall and anitvirus. There isnt much i can do so i follow the directions becasue i need the internet to play CSS.

So i cant go on the internet without logging onto Cisco, also there's a little note that says, "The ports for the school are open but will be closed Monday thru Friday during the school year. They will be open only from Friday to Sunday and for Holiday breaks." Also they are only allowing four games now! CSS happens to be one so im fine with it. So, i figure ill play alittle CS before they close them. Well i can get onto steam but counterstrike wont startup. All i get is the background for the game. Also i cant log onto Vent. They have it blocked.

So now im freaking out. I just bough a mic to talk to you guys and these f*cking PRICKS are blocking everything.

I went on line to see if i could get a tunneler to go through the schools firewall but couldnt find anything good.

PLEASE HELP!

Any suggestions on:
1.) How to get CSS to work
2.) How to get Vent to work
3.) How to get a tunneler to get past the school

I can stand playing only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday if i have to but not talking to you guys and getting blocked from viewing any out side servers is f*cking uncool.

I cant even view my work e-mail because it is an outside server. WTF!

Thxs guys in adavance for anything you can do to help.

Can you talk to the administration about it?
Just make some bullsh*t up that you talk to your parents through vent :20: That probably wont work. Talking about it is never a bad thing, however.

That sucks, man. :33:

Okay I got CSS to work. I just changed a setting in the firewall.
I still need help about Vent and a tunneler if anyone knows anything.

Otherwise i guess i will only see you guys on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, until the school ends. This is really going to suck. :33:

Thxs.

try these:

go to network connections, and disable, then enable local area connection. then repair.

go to your email. anything about campus maintenance? usually happens at my college often, where internet is down for a day.

ctrl alt delete, how many processes of firefox and ie are running?

firewall on defualt or really high?

if things are getting thru youre firewall, the school may shut you down without telling you, speak to your RA

omg where the f*ck do you go to school. I have never heard of sh*t like this before. My buddy goes to UGA and he plays games online whenever the f*ck he has time or feels like it. First of all you are paying to go to that school and to use that internet connection (it is included in your fees). If they were giving it to you for free, then maybe they would have the right to block certain web pages or games. So i would definately talk to administration or maybe email the dean or something. Other than than talking to someone other that the it guy i really have no advice for you. Talk to them and if they won't comply then move out. Find a room-mate and get any apartment somewhere. Trust me splitting the entire cost of an apartment is cheaper than paying room and board for some 12x12 room they call a dorm.

I went and talked to the IT people and here is their statement

"Because we are an academic institution the internet should be used for academic purposes. Playing videogames and downloading slows down the internet for others who mean to use it for their studies. As of right now we are limiting videogames to Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays after 5pm to 7am the next morning."

This is BULLsh*t!

My school has a T1 line and only 3,000 people live on campus. WTF! Not to mention teh school has a ratio of girls to guy being 3:1 (very nice by the way). There is no f*cking way that 25% of the populace slow down the bandwidth, especially since probaly only half of the guys play online videogames and even then everyone is not all on at the same time.

Im so pissed. bah! school!

On a side note. I had to check my computer in becuase Cisco wasnt letting me log on anymore. So i get my tower back and they f*cking UNISTALLED MY DVD RIPPER (which i use for illegal purposes) AND A FEW OTHER PROGRAMS. I am f*cking raising hell down in the office with a lot of other people.

THIS IS MY PERSONAL PROPERTY! THEY HAVE NO f*cking RIGHT TO UNINSTALL sh*t ON MY COMPUTER. ESPECIALLY IF IT DOESNT EFFECT THEM IN ANY WAY.

Id say more but then i should probably post in the rant section! :33:

Your right they don't have the right to mess with your property. I mean like come on you can take away the internet because its theres. But touching your personal property is not right.

Actually dude you pay for that f*cking internet. Hook up with some other guys that are pissed and get a damn apartment. Its way f*cking cheaper that way. I am pretty sure you can sue someone for tampering with your computer (uninstalling programs) when they don't have permission to.

Aight, as for the ports, there is very little you can do about that. At my school, the ports are closed 7 days a week, I simply can not play CSS, can't even connect to steam. So be glad you can still play at all.

As for the them forcing you to install sh*t on your computer, it's their network, and they can tell you what to do to participate in the network. Anyway, their antivirus sh*t will be a lot better than what you have now anyways, since they will be able to do updates as soon as they find out about a certain virus hitting your campus. It's really not that big of a deal to have their antivirus sh*t.

As for tunneling, don't bother, you're in school for a reason. There are worse things in the world than not participating in Vent. Make do with what you have.

And the removing the DVD ripper, well, just f*cking redownload it. I use DVDShrink/DVDClone, both easily redownloadable.

That statement is completly legit. Live with it, like I said, you're in college, you have other things to do. Giving you ANY video game time through open ports is a gift.

In the end, don't make sh*t harder for yourself. Live with what you got, and find a friend with an apt if it is that much of a big deal to you.

good luck to you
