So we had a 56" JVC LCOS HDTV delivered today and it seems to be...broken. Anyone have any knowledge about DLP/LCD style HDTVs?

When we turn it off the power LED comes on and the screen LED flashes, but the screen doesn't come on...

The roommate is talking to Customer Support right now...if they can't fix it Ima gonna be bummed...

It's a JVC HD-56G886 56". Apparently the lamp is broken (DLP). JVC is going to send us a new one free...but that'll take a lil' while to get here.

When you plug it in and turn it on, nothing really happens. No sounds (other than a clicking) and no picture whatsoever...

hey dude,
i used to sell the things, and from experience, i'll tell you that the JVC's lcos models had more problems than almost any other LCD/DLP/Lcos I sold. at one point, there were more JVC service pieces than there were floor models of other brands....insane. im sure you dont care, but the sony LCD projections, and the Mitsubishi DLP's are f*cking amazing, so you should look into that.

Luckily I didn't pay for the damn thing. It is one of the newer LCOS models, so hopefully they'd have eliminated some of the porblems. Apparently not though.

I suppose if he wants to though he can claim they sent him a broken set and have them take it back and get a refund (bought it from some online store I'd never heard of...I warned him!). I really like the RCA Scenium DLP's myself. He almost cancelled this order and went to Best Buy to buy one of those instead (it took 2 1/2 times longer to get here than they said it would...)

Not user friendly? How so?

They have a very nice picture...

If we do end up having to get rid of this JVC would should we go with?

NOT SONY. overpriced and their pieces of garbage.

I've found toshiba to be the best. I have a panosonic HDTV and it works great for me.
