Wait till Direct X 10 ready cards are out. I dunno if Vista will be able to use DX9 cards for some of the DX10 applications. Personally I'd wait until the DX10 instructions are already built into the cards before upgrading...

yeah im going to wait like a year or so. bc no games are except far cry 2, but its not that great. so ill wait for the m2 processors, 3 gigs of ram, new vid cards with direct x10 before i get one. i was thinking about upgrading once vista came out. but with all my money going to college and frat now , il lwait another year if i do. it seems like games are slowing down.....hardly ever some big shooters.

M2 will be here soon, DX10 cards will probably be coming out when Vista takes off (I would think) and 3 gigs of RAM? That's here, although expensive. Also a bit overkill at the moment.

So, your saying I should hold off on building my next computer, and put up with my half running POS, that's on the verg of dieing, just so I can wait for direct x 10 cards to come out?

Yes...well, no. Well, that's up to you really. You can hold off for AM2 and then just build an entire system and buy a cheaper PCIe card. Then when DX10 cards come out you could just upgrade your video card. Or you could buy everything now. Honestly it probably doesn't matter because if you buy a newer system now you'll probably not upgrade your CPU and such until a newer faster socket is out anyways...so it's really your call. If your machine really is on the verge of dying and you want a new one now, get a s939 and a cheaper PCIe card (like a 6600 GT) and then when DX10 stuff comes out just swap out the vid card.
And Billy...I doubt they will...they're trying to phase AGP out.
