I am currently using service pack 1 on my computer. I have used it for quite a while now and things seem to work pretty good. The automatic update thing tells me that i have service pack 2 downloaded and ready to install. That is cool, so I install it. Then it butt f*cks my computer. WTF.

I guess my question is: is sp2 really worth the hassle of trying to install it? and if so how do i do it without screwing up my computer again? (i have installed it twice and both times it screwed with my object dock and windowblinds progam, while making my computer run very slow)

Any help with this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks

Half the things in SP2 are security updates. I would just suck it up and update. I haven't had any problems on my work computer or home computer with SP2..

SP2 is kinda important. Uninstall the apps that you are having a problem with, install SP2, then reinstall them. Theres a million changes in SP2. SP1 is kinda ancient as it came out in September of 2002. Thats a long time ago...... If I were you, I'd format, reinstall and then update before you install any apps. Thats just me though. :1:

I had my hardrive crash before it was an update and when i got a new hardrive and updated it everything went fine but i didnt have anything on my computer except my firewall.

But most of my friends have installed it with little to no problems and those that did have problems fixed them pretty quick.

I would say just do it and get it done with.

id say just go for it squirrel, or take it to belson, hes hooking me up with another hd, reformat, and a gig of ram for like $100...hes the sh*t. hes also said he could prolly hook my up with a 17lcd and an x850 for like 300 since me u and steven are "valued" customers lol. you should just let that nicca play with it, and save yourself the hassle

SP2 f*cks up a bunch of things... I don't think it's worth it. As for security issues there are lots of good 3rd party secuirty progs out there that don't f*ck your comp over (though some of them do).

the only thing it f*cked up for me is not being able to play old games (like 9-11 year old games), one of which is Mechwarrior 3.. which is one of my favorite games.. but i think its actually not sp2 but my processor.. so i'd upgrade.. i dont have any problems with it..
