I figured that we should have a topic dedicated to those who are currently playing the game. (tips tricks, links etc) If you aren't playing the game DONT POST HERE. There is another topic about this game for that. Everyone that has the game knows that it kicks ass. Getting that out of the way:

I am only about 4-5 hours into it. (Dark elf warior and opted for the 60 second invisibility thing) What I haven't figured out is how to persuade people with that weird thing that pops up to make people happier and how to get away with stealing stuff/breaking into peoples rooms. I can steal stuff from people fine and they don't have a clue, but sometimes after I break into someones room and DONT steal anything I get caught by the guards. Has anyone gotten away with killing a shopkeep without getting caught?? I have tried a bunch of times and they always run away before they die and I get caught.

Anyone have any tricks for me??

Shlonky, use the speech craft skill to make them pissed at you intill they attack you, making it legal to kill them. At least that's how it was in the last game. Haven't tried it in this one, cause I usually play the good knight kinda character. :1:

Also, SCREENIES!

My major skills are. . .

Heavy Armor
Armorer
Blade
Restoration
security
athletics
block

Custom class Fell Blade.

Basically all major skills do, is get a boost at the start and are used to level you up as you level those skills. So I generally pick moslty skills I dirly need and fill in the rest that are easy to raise, so I can level up fast. Hence block, armorer, athletics.

Now I'm off to finish closing my third oblivion gate.

My character pretty much sucks, (as in not that powerful yet and no cool sh*t) I have about 4-5 hours into it, but half of that was spent dicking around exploring the game. I haven't even used my 60 seconds invisibility thing yet. My character in this game is out to cause as much trouble as posible and kill as many innocent bystanders as possible. Men, women, children and animals beware......hehe

Thanks Ezekiel......as soon as I get home I'm gonna piss off some people.

I haven't really played any RPGs lately, but have been itchin' to play one for awhile now. So far Oblivion has met all my expectations.

Any of you guys get the 350+ page strategy guide?? I thought about it......

Stratigy guide is worth it for the side quests, but ruins the main quest. I had one for Morrowind and it help out a lot, but in Oblivion I noticed with the map and fast travel system, most things are pointed out for you on the map, or at least a landmark that will lead you to your destination. So I'd pass.

Oh, and yay, I just got a daedra claymore and heavy shield.

How do you check your framerate in oblivion?? I have similar system specs to you and I don't think I am getting 40-50 fps. (hopefully not so It'll give me a reason to buy an x1800xt)

And does anyone know where the save game files are located? I want to back them up........

I used frapps to tell me my FPS.

I was home sick yesterday. (No I wasn't faking. Sinus cold.) So I had some extra time. I'm wearing full steel, with a daedra shield, daedra claymore, a ring that gives constant 7% resistance to fire, and another that gives me constant 5 agility and speed, and a silver bow. The bow has a silence target for 5 seconds on strike, and my boots have fortify speed 7 points because of the stones stolen from oblivion gates.

Oh, and I have a painted horse.

Believe what you want. I speak only the truth.

But on the main reason. Uhhh.... main quest gets difficult later on. You have to travel to every town and help them with an oblivion gate... onto my 6th gate.

My friend said this works: Find some stupid asshole and plant some stolen sh*t on him/her. Watch guards kick his ass and steal his house. Laugh.

I have yet to try it...... I ran into that too. You might be able to bribe her. Most likely have to do a side quest so she likes you.

*Clears throat* Attention it is with great vigor, I say this.

Main quest completed baby!

I am now the Champion of Cyrodil, and with it a full set of dragon armor forged for me in 2 weeks game time. I will post screen shots later. And damn, the last legs of the main quest are f*cking AWESOME!

If he finished it already he probably only explored about 10% of the game. (completed only the main quest) I'm 10 hours into it and havent done sh*t. You can spend 10+ hours EASILY in one town. :20:

Good job though. I would have done the same thing if i had time.
