Hey everyone. I am getting a new PSU for my computer and I wanted to know what your opinion is on it.

Please let me know if this is a crap brand or if one of you has a HIPRO PSU, and what you think of it.
Thanks

I just got a new OCZ one that I like a lot. The 520w one, was $100 though. Don't get a crappy psu, specially if you are running a high end system with badass videocard. I have had several thermaltake ones and they seem to be pretty good for the money. Look at how many amps they can pump out on the +5v rail. Wattage doesn't mean sh*t cuz different companies rate them differently.

Most people don't realize how important a PSU is to system stability and reliability. If you buy a sh*tty one and it doesn't crap out after a few days/hours it can still cause you a ton of problems. Voltage stability is critical to how a computer operates. If your voltages that your PSU pumps out don't remain stable, it can cause a ton of problems.

My new surge protector/voltage regulator for my electronics sh*t ($400 monster power variety) has a voltage meter for A/C on the front of it. You'd be amazed how much the power in your home fluctuates. Turn on vaccuum cleaner = -15v instantly. A good PSU shouldn't fluctuate even though the A/C that powers it can be +/-10% or more.

That's what I'm using currently, and I'm loving it. My uncle uses Aspire in his computers and hasn't had a problem with 'em. So I gave em a go.

Yeah, the lights are a whatever thing. But the extra fans are nice, and you can control the fan speeds with a knob on the back, so if you need the little extra cooling just notch it up.

Best PSU on a price conscience level is easily the Ultra X2 right now.... that psu you showed on newegg seemed fine... Antec tend to be a bit noisier recently

I'll remind you of how I didnt play CS for 5 weeks...
My cheap PSU ate the cock and took my motherboard along with it.
I had to get my MB replaced... which took 5 weeks, luckily still under waranty.
I bought a $100 Enermax Liberty, and my system has never performed so well...
I have 6 GPUs, 2 radeon 9800, 4 radeon 7500... and finally no hiccups...

Basically Id say to go with a Enermax or Antec, one of the two top brands, and get something
around $90-$140, that is listed as 50-75 watts higher than what you might get by with.

The efficency is important too, I calcualted I save about $20 year in electricity with my new PSU.
