so... i just joined the community after playing on the boss servers for a couple weeks or so... and i was wondering how one becomes an admin?

Really, how many admins do we need?? I've only been on once or twice where there was no admin playing. Of course, I don't play often ATM...but still. I guess there is no such thing as too many admins.

Usually when I'm on someones got some power whether it be someone at the console or someone who has access to the say commands.

we are expanding currently.... trying to get server 2 more popular.... its happening slowly, plus today we are going to add a HL2DM server with low-grav killbox....

Wow not to be an ass or anything but doesn't that seem a bit...expensive? People can go and run their own server for like 15$ a month from some resellers.

Not really I was considering reselling it at one point on a P4 3GHZ with 2 gigs of ram an 80 gigs of space and 100meg connection which could run a sh*tload of those server considering its like 50Mhz per person and ~6k bandwidth.

agree'd riel, m-e-tech rocks for shared servers, but we dont use shared servers here, these are our machines, duel 2.4 with 2 gb ram and 100 MB port at the moment in virginia, and if anyone has priced dedicatd boxes... you would know the bells and whistles cost a lot more then standardized linux boxes, but bleh.... it is a good thing at times... specially with games that only support windows DS versions....

right now, we pay 260/month for it.... and thats not cheap, so 10 dollars a month... it is small, but you are helping out with every bit of money you put it, you get it back by helping run the servers with quality...

we have Not always had the best idea of running servers, and for the first month we ran a source server, we did not admin it at all, no awp rules, or whatever, now that we are expanding and growing everyday, there is no sense going back .... this is better for everybody that we at least try keeping it going strong and who knows, maybe at one point we will make enough to expand even farther.....


for now, I dont know, game wise I just think source is all we need... doom3 and all that sucks, CoDUO is a resource wh*re... we will see though....

im making a poll now to see what people want our next server to be....

I said SoF2 for the new server, but I'd actually rather have either another CS:S server or possibly larger CS:S servers (38 or 40 players)

why would you want too?
all you need to do is pay for servers all the time,
but then people will expect you to actully enfoce the rules.
and i wish the admins did.
