I'm thinking about getting a laptop and figured why not get one that will play CSS.

Does anyone have any experience / advice for me?

I'm thinking about a 1.66 duo with 1gb ddr2 and ati x1400

laptops suck for gaming IMO... even the ones that are built for it.
Massacre can tell you all about it :20:

Whats the most you would want too spend on one?

I usually don't recommend buying a dell, but you might want to look into this one.

Dell gaming laptop

Either that one or an alienware. Oh wait Dell bought alienware. But like frag said, notebooks pretty much suck for gaming. Unless you spend a sh*tload on a nice one.

These are nice too.

for the price the dell 9400 comes with a 7800 gpu built in... and you can pick it up for around 800-1400 depending on what specs you need.

Alienware = uberhomsexual. Trust me, I have one. I had to open is and mess with stuff the first day I got it, terrible cust. support. Ghey.

yeah man alienware is not an option. I was just gonna get a tricked out accer but I'm concerned that the 1.66 duo isn't enough horsepower. Doesn;t seem like anyone here has played on one of those so I guess I just have to buy one and let y'all know how it goes.

Eh. I prefer desktops for gaming. They just seem easier. Usually adding parts or modifying them is easier, they perform better, and they are cheaper.

For example, a Dell E510 with a Pentium D Dual Core 2.8GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a PCI-Express x16 Radeon x600 card is only $1017, while a laptop with a 1.6GHz Intel Core Solo processor, 1GB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics card is $1448. If you take away the ATI card and keep the default integrated graphics, it would still be $1299.

You couldnt ask this question at a more perfect time.

I just got a new dell E1505 laptop
Its a 15.4 widscreen i got it with a core duo 2.0ghz
The ATI 1400
1 gig ram
80gb hd
and a bunch of extra stuff.
It all came out to about 1266.
It works great with CSS. Google search for Dell coupons to find a really good deal.
If you want help just im me

I don't see what you think is so bad about dell laptops. I got mine about 2 months ago and I am loving it. I am playing CS:S @ 1920x1200 at 120+ fps with max details.

Only thing is that it is kind of bulky, but it gets the job done.

I would check out www.slickdeals.net and wait for a good deal to come along. I have seen some bad ass laptops go for $1200. With a 7800GTX

If you really want to get a dell laptop i suggest first you read my thread on "Why I Hate Dell."
That sh*t is like asking for trouble.

Dell = ultrauberf*ckeduptasticghey :tdown:
