ok ok, most of you guys probaby not into the heavy death metal scene....but heres a band that re-defines Finnish Death metal, Finntroll, the one part thats tough to swallow is the lyrics, are all finnish, almost like how Ramstein does all their lyrics in german....anyway Finntroll merges their version of death metal with some Finnish Folk music, and they create a very unique sound, and its not other the top with the folk music, but just enough to keep you listening saying to yourself"how the hell did they make that sound so good together"
trust me on this Finntroll:Nattfodd is a very solid album, and I proudly display it in my collection.

Killer track of the album "Trollhammaren".

listening to it now, good sh*t man.

just a correction; all their lyrics are in Swedish (which is good, because I can't understand Finnish for sh*t). I don't blame you for not noticing though :P even though they are as far apart as two languages can be.

Apparently these guys are finn-swedes (Swedish used to be the official language of Finland when they we're occupied by us, and some parts still speak it).
I really enjoy the music because of the folk influences, old Swedish folk is teh sh*t, stuff the vikings wrote anyway, todays folk is kinda ghey. Metal bands have tried to use Norse mythology in music for a looong time, and I must say this is the most genuine attempt yet, props!!!

hmm...sorry I didnt catch that Frag, makes me feel like a douche...I assumed it was Finnish because on the centurymedia bio page, and their homepage they only state they are from Finland, so, thanks for pointing that out my swedish friend.
oh and ofcourse you need to mention Amon Amarth for their lyrics depecting the Norse lore(but they also create their own stories in the eyes of ancient norse mythology), which is badass, but I have yet to hear another band who pulls it off..seriously...

Storm does a lot of stuff with a pretty heavy norse influence. Finntroll was pretty good, but a little heavy for me. I prefer my speed/power metal. Yay Stratovarius and Edguy. :D
